Areas of Practice

Wage and Hour Litigation
State and Federal laws as well as governing court cases determine how and when employees are to be paid. Our law firm is well respected as a premier California class action law firm experienced in wage and hour law.  Not only have we litigated in excess of 130 class action cases, many of which are against Fortune 500 companies, but we have also handled in excess of 700 individual cases.  This legal experience is invaluable in bringing our clients’ cases to settlement at the earliest possible date for the highest possible financial recoveries.

While wage and hour litigation such as failure to pay overtime, misclassification, failure to provide meals and breaks, or failure to reimburse expenses is the bulk of our representation, our employment law firm also considers cases in the categories listed below.  More comprehensive information about each of these areas of employment law can also be found in our website.

Discrimination:  There are many types of discrimination.  If you feel that you may have been discriminated against by an employer, an employment agent, a labor union or collective bargaining group when you applied for a job or while working for your employer and such discrimination had to do with your race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability, you may have a claim.  In addition, if you feel that you have been discriminated against because you spoke out against an illegal practice or participated in an equal employment opportunity matter, you may file a case of discrimination with the EEOC.  A California discrimination lawyer at our firm can help explain California discrimination laws and may help you to file a claim.

Wrongful Termination:  Many California employees believe they have been wrongfully terminated, when in most cases this is not the case.  Unless an employee was terminated in violation of an employment agreement or among other things, due to discrimination, or whistle blowing, it is likely there is no wrongful termination.  However, to be sure, it is wise to consult with a California wrongful termination attorney at our firm to see if you may have a claim against a current or prior employer.

Harassment/Hostile Work Environment:  California employees are entitled to perform their jobs in a work environment that is free from hostility, and or harassment. If you feel that you have been the victim of a hostile work environment or unwanted harassment of any sort including sexual advances or sexual advances related to promotions, pay increase or simply keeping your job, our California sexual harassment lawyers would like to speak to you.

Workplace Retaliation: Retaliation occurs when an employee complains about unlawful activity of the employer or an agent, supervisor or manager of latter and the employee is subjected to “adverse employment action.”  Such action can be a reprimand, demotion, loss of a benefit, change of schedule to an undesirable shift, assigning undesirable duties, demotion or termination. It is also unlawful for an employer to retaliate against an employee for complaining of instances of discrimination or harassment.  If you feel that you are the victim of workplace retaliation our labor attorneys are available to discuss your potential case.
